5 Simple Everyday Cleaning Tips To Keep Office Virus Free

5 Simple Everyday Cleaning Tips To Keep Office Virus Free – Office cleaning is a must at all times. And its role is even greater when the risk of virus contamination is high. Unlike dust, pathogens pass from worker to worker, affecting their health and productivity. That’s why, you should avoid procrastination and laziness, and sanitize the office space on daily basis.

Here are 5 everyday cleaning tips to ensure a virus-free office environment.

Sanitize the desks

The disinfection day starts with each worker sanitizing their workspace. It’s the best way to ensure that the virus will not travel around the office. Or, at least it reduces the chance of a healthy employee catching the virus after visiting the desk of another employee.

An infected worker touches his or her desk a lot, expanding the area where the pathogen lives. Imagine he or she disinfects the workspace once in 2-3 hours. The habitat of the virus will get significantly smaller, limiting itself to the body of the employee.

That’s why, if you care about the health of your and other colleagues, disinfect your desk on regular basis. Use disinfecting wipes or a hand sanitizer and a cloth to sweep the nasty pathogens off your desk. Never do it in a rush, as it may have you skip considerable virus nests. Better sacrifice some time dedicated to job projects to go over each inch of your workspace.

Disinfect high-touch office areas

Disinfecting door handles is so easy, yet it can bring so much value to the prevention of virus spreading. Imagine how easy it is for a contaminated door handle or light switch to transmit the virus to tens of employees. A single touch will make sure the pathogen has passed on the body of the employee.

And if the company features in-person interaction with customers, the impact will be even more disastrous. Of course, having the virus on your hand doesn’t mean you are already infected. But, if you don’t wash your hands timely, it can quickly get inside your body.

Even if you take a responsible approach to your hygiene, it still doesn’t mean office high-touch areas don’t need disinfection. If there are no professional cleaners to disinfect for you, do it yourself. The best decision would be to implement a rota system to ensure all employees participate in the office sanitization.

Use disinfecting wipes or spray disinfectant to treat the door handles, light switches, printers, water dispensers, and other high-touch items. Take much care when it comes to electronics. Use little liquid sanitizer to prevent a short circuit.

Keep the public area clean

Public area sanitization couldn’t miss from our list of office cleaning tips. The public area is the place with the highest chance of contamination, as all employees and customers meet at one point. To prevent germs pass from worker to client, then to other people outside the office, make sure you disinfect the public area.

By doing so, you also ensure that a virus from a customer doesn’t spread throughout the office. Use a powerful disinfectant to treat the seating area. Go slowly overall hard-to-reach areas to guarantee that all nasty agents die.

In addition, make a point of vacuuming the floor to eliminate all dirt and germs. Disinfecting it with a sanitizer or steam afterward would be also great. If your office enjoys a large flow of clients, you may need to sanitize it more frequently. Even if all employees are busy, you can’t leave the public area dirty and potentially contaminated.

You are good to hire professional cleaners to disinfect the areas while saving employees’ time and energy.

Disinfect the bathroom

The bathroom traditionally contains a lot of germs. Whether they are human-friendly or disease-causing, you have to get rid of them. In this way, you will keep the restroom free of dirt and odors. Disinfecting the office restroom may be time-consuming, but it implies multiple simple tasks.

First of all, disinfect the high-touch areas and areas with the highest risk of accumulating germs. These include the door handle, the faucet handle, the toilet, and the light switches. Use a spray disinfectant to reach hardly accessible spots and ensure all pathogens meet their death.

Move on to floor sanitization. Vacuum it to remove the dust and debris. Then, treat it with a disinfectant, like bleach, to remove odors and prevent germs’ growth. Bleach is actually a universal disinfectant you can use on toilets, faucets, sink, and piping areas.

Taking out the bathroom rubbish is also a firm step to stopping the spreading of germs throughout the office.

Clean the electronics

Electronics are also home to a wide variety of bacteria and dust. Keeping your workspace gadgets permanently clean will lower your chance of interacting with disease-causing germs. Likewise, a workmate that explains something on your computer while touching its screen can also catch a virus.

By shaking hands with other employees later, he or she will facilitate the spreading of the virus in the office. That’s why you should take good care of your desk appliances by doing a few simple tasks.

Use disinfecting wipes to free your PC or laptop of debris and dangerous bacteria. Don’t forget to replace the dirty wipe with a new one after a few wiping motions.

Then, move on to the printer and telephone. If your job has to do with many phone calls, you have to disinfect this appliance quite often. Make sure you don’t squeeze the disinfecting wipe too hard to prevent moisture from coming out and getting inside your gadgets. For the same reason, you should avoid using spray disinfectants.
